Poll :University or LAC

Which would you pick? and 2 points why?

University
1) Broader curriculum (I want both a liberal arts and an engineering education)
2) Better research opportunities

LAC
1) More personal atmosphere
2) More personal atmosphere

Basically, I'd rather be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in the ocean, and math is one of those subjects that are not tied to expensive research equipment that can only be found at big universities.

The "better research opportunities" argument would probably work in FAVOR of LACs, as undergrads are the first place profs go when they need RA's, versus the hierarchy of grad students at research unis. This isn't to say that you can't do research at a university, but the opportunities are seemingly much easier to come by at LACs

Ejhfast- For a liberal arts & engineering education, you really can't beat Harvey Mudd, one of the nation's leading LACs

LAC

I have a low tolerance for bureaucracy
I like being a big fish in a small pond

Liberal arts college, because of the personal attention and the focus on the liberal arts and humanities.

University

Everything I could possibly want to do, is there. Even if I don't do it, it's comforting to know that the option is there.

I need lots of people. :-) I like the personal thing, but I'm used to the big public school environment, where there's lots of different people to meet and get to know.

LAC 100%. i dont want to be a number and i want a personal connection with the school.

4 LAC 2 University

LAC - maybe.

I haven't visited any yet, they could be a bit small. But LAC style - Yessir!
