POLS 207 question

Does anyone have any thoughts or know about H Tucker for Pols 207? What about Escobar-Lemmon for 207? My son is signed up for Tucker this fall (fresh.) but his reviews aren't too great. If he wanted to switch out into a different section, can that be done after you've already got your fall schedule? If so, how? Thanks for any info!

Where do you sign up for professors and when does the schedule come in?

Berly, I assume you've checked pick-a-prof since you knew about the reviews. All I can say is that they are usually pretty accurate. You can switch to a different section during add-drop time (which is right around when school starts). However, I'll be surprised if you find openings in any sections with well-reviewed profs. Your son might have to stick it out.

JehJar,
Are you starting at A&M in the fall and haven't registered yet? Have you attended the New Student Conference yet? That's when you register.

Yes, I think you're right about that timely, but he might (and I stress "might") have a chance because the times with the good prof is very late in the day TR...like the class is over at 6:45 p.m. and most students wouldn't want that time...I think! I know my son isn't thrilled about going to class that late either, but isn't sure he wants to deal with the other prof all semester, especially since he'll be a freshman.

You are right about the late in the day classes; those kids don't like to take late classes! He might actually have a chance of getting into that one. Look on the TAMU website to see if you can find out the dates for add/drop or contact your son's academic advisor. My son is hoping to add/drop also and change a couple of classes, but I don't think he has a very good chance of getting what he wants.

I checked and add/drop starts on Aug. 6...good luck!

Escobar-Lemmon is amazing!!!! I had her, and she was so good- very informative and not biased. I hope to take another class from her in the future. :-) Hope that helps some.

I'll have to check to see if she's teaching anything my S could take....except that he's one of those kids who won't sign up for those late in the day classes! :-)

To be fair, since he's in the Corps, they sometimes have training times in the late afternoon, and he can't miss that.

thanks relientr and timely!!! I'm definitely going to see if my son will try and switch out of his pols class into hers, even if it is a late one. Hope there's room by Aug. 6...relientr, will you be at the freshmen Cornerstone's first class day when they have "the Cornerstone panel"? My son will be in the Monday class.

Oh yeah, btw, when they say add/drop begins Aug. 6, does that mean they open it up at midnight or some other time Aug. 6?

DCurtis hasn't sent any emails out to the listserve about it... when they did it with us, they were juniors. I'm sure I'll be around at some point, though. :-)
