Poly Sci or Biology for an aspiring Physician's assistant?

Hi guys! I was hoping to get some advice on what I should major in for my undergrad degree. I’m an aspiring Physician’s Assistant but most of the colleges I’m looking at only offer a graduate PA program with the prerequisite of having a bachelors degree. The major that I’ve been told I should go for is biology since this is what the majority of premed students go for, but I’m not sure if I have a passion for Biology. I know that I have a passion for debating and history so I feel as though being a poly sci major would be a better fit for me and I could do a lot better in terms of grades if I majored in political science. I’m afraid however that in terms of medicine I will fall behind compared to students who majored in biology. Also I’m not sure if I will have to take some additional classes that aren’t covered by the poly sci major requirements in order to fulfill the class prerequisite’s for PA school. So which one should I major in for undergrad?
Also YES I am 100% sure I want to be a PA. I already am an EMT and have spoken to several PA’s so I know this is my passion.

I would go for the Poly Sci major. I don’t think you will fall behind. As long as you have the requirements and classes needed for PA school, it’s not going to hurt you to not major in biology or biochemistry of some sorts. You should major in whatever you are passionate about. Good luck!

Look up what undergraduate courses the PA professional degree programs specify and see if they can fit into the various majors you are considering. For something like political science, they would have to fit into the out-of-major elective space.
