What does everyone think about Pomfret? Do they offer late admission?

It is a good school. Very traditional lwith a beautiful brick and ivy campus. The kids seemed nice and were very friendly. My son applied there as a repeat jr, late in April, and was admitted. I think it changes from year to year, but that particular year, they had a couple spaces left in their accepted jr. class. I think it flies under the radar, especially the cc radar.

I know someone who went there, it was great for him. His parents are independent school educators, so I’m sure they knew what they were doing when they sent him there. It was a while ago as he is now a teacher at one of the schools discussed somewhat more often on this board!

Heading for a revisit soon, it is one of DS’s final choices. He is attracted to the Digital Arts program, the small size, the friendliness of the people, the chance to be more of an impact athlete than at larger schools. Outgoing Headmaster has really raised the school’s profile, and the newly appointed Head is highly regarded (coming from St. George’s where he’s been a Dean). “Town” of Pomfret is picturesque and tiny (though with a great Cafe/music space, the Vanilla Bean) & its in a beautiful rural pocket of CT with access to Boston, Providence & Hartford in under an hour.

P.S. the school is really committed to the Arts. Students must do some kind of arts elective every term.

Wow! It sounds great to
me- plenty of arts programs, good acdaemics, small size, etc… I just wish I had found it last fall! hopefully they aren’t too tough on late apps

People are pretty friendly here, small school, though the town Pomfret is kinda rural…
