Pomona Class of 2012

Congratulations everyone! Pomona is a great school and you all deserve the spot you received.

rejected :( .... 4.6 weighted GPA, 2190 SAT, spent all of last summer in Cambodia and helped start a school there, had an awesome interview with one of the deans of admission, volunteer for Hospice every week and work 25 hours a week too.

oh well, Congrats to everyone who got in! I'm sure you will absolutely love it there!

DD was ACCEPTED! :) :)
Generous financial aid offer!

what is the difference between d and dd? congratulations! and sarah, OH MY GOD you are definitely going places with accomplishments like that even if you got rejected.

hey guys! congratulations on your acceptances!
i got admitted too as an intl student.
do you know if I can check my financial aid offer online? or does it come with the post? really eager to know.... :(

Fin. aid isn't available to anyone atm except those who got it in their admittance packets (i didn't, sent forms a few days too late to process it before acceptance)

ooh, i see...
thanks saasaa!

wundershowzen -

D = daughter
DD = dear daughter

:)

I'm from philly and am ecstatic about getting into Pomona. I'm almost 100% sure I'll be coming next year, depending on the financial aid package and my ability to persuade my parents to send me 3,000 miles away.

Does anyone know how accessibile LA is from Pomona? Is it a metro rail or train and is it costly?

congrats!!!!! =))))) i'm so excited for you guys!

LA is very accessible from Pomona - the metro train ticket (round trip) is like $1.70. So no worries. The only problem is that the metro closes by about 9pm. That said, chances are you'll have friends with a car (there is a TON of parking space in Pomona) and so you can jolly ride with them back.

$1.70? Does Pomona cut you a deal?? It's more like $5-10...

The buses run a little later than the trains, thankfully.

Also, they're expanding the red line out to Claremont from Pasadena within the next couple of years.

Whoops, my bad. I don't know why I put $1.70.

Normally we spend about 6 - 7 dollars on a round trip ticket. But that's because we buy the youth tickets - which cost $3.75 for one-way ticket. Normal tickets will cost $5.75 on the weekends for a one-way train ticket and $10.25 for a round trip ticket.

The Gold Line extension to Claremont is not scheduled to open until 2014 and it is rare for public works projects to open on time.

Hey, I just got denied for financial aid...does anyone know if it's possible to bargain for some?

The Fin Aid office at Pomona is very open to reconsidering a student's situation. They have a formula that they follow, of course, but if you have extenuating circumstances, they will consider them.

Call them, they'll hook it up. It's not uncommon for them to increase their offer if they've made one, or reconsider if they haven't

ACCEPTED AND GOIN TO VISITERS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!! lol
