Hmm…that’s odd that so few people have heard so far. I got my acceptance in the mail on Thursday, though I live in WA so I’m fairly close. I wouldn’t be expecting an email if I were you, I haven’t gotten one. Just be on the lookout for a large envelope. Good luck!

did u receive mail or email or both???

If you live in the US, you’ll receive snail mail. If you’re international, you’ll receive e-mail followed by snail mail.

Good luck!

International Applicant, still have not received an email. Anyone else?

DS received his letter last year at this time. Now, as a freshman, he is extremely happy at Pomona – fantastic professors, brilliant and friendly students, a very cohesive sponsor group. The college is definitely exceeding his high expectations – and ours.

Just wanted to wish you all the best of luck as you wait for the mail! We’re rooting for you!

I’m international and I recieved it by post.
I was rejected:

i’m going to call the admissions office tomorrow…

Applicants= 298
Acceptances= 79
acceptance rate= 26.5% (about the same as last year)
slight increase of apps from last year’s ED1

source:
<a href=“Early Admissions Statistics 2013 - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com”>Early Admissions Statistics 2013 - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com;

from the '12-'13 CDS (section C), 734 applied last year (ED1+ED2) with 150 acceptances.
http://www.pomona.edu/administration/institutional-research/common-data-set/12-13/C-Admissions.pdf

Assuming similar total numbers this year, about ~430 will apply for ED2, with ~70 acceptances, translating to a ~16% acceptance rate, which is still 4% better than last year’s RD acceptance rate of 12% (calculated by removing ED numbers from the total app numbers on the CDS). Of course, Pomona has historically taken a lower percentage of their class from ED relative to other LACs, so if they made a change, the ED2 rate could turn out to be higher.

Deferred. Also deferred REA from stanford earlier–I find it pretty funny. I’m expecting the pattern to continue with lots of waitlists come April

Accepted. North California

Accepted!! ED2. The white priority mail envelope came Feb. 13. I am new to this thread. My DS is relieved and happy to be trading snow boots for flip-flops. Home state - Vermont.

Hi @4Snowdays If you don’t mind me asking, where do you live?

AllanTsui, why do you ask?

[] Essays (subject and responses): Pomona College prompt (You are walking down the street when something catches your eye. You stop and stare for a long while, amazed and fascinated. What are you looking at?)- Was fascinated by words printed on the sidewalk in all sizes, from classic texts; very metaphorical as I intend to go into English. Sounds better in the essay than in summary! CommonApp prompt (open prompt)- It’s very hard to explain. The easiest way of summing it up is existential; you can read it here if you’d like: [hypocritical verses](http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/330/9/a/hypocritical_verses___by_straybutterflies-d5m93o6.html)
[li] Teacher Recs: Three instead of two (one English, one Bio/Math Analysis Honors, one APUSH/APAH); very strong as I’ve had 2/3 for more than one year and more than one subject, and form close relationships with teachers.[/li][] Counselor Rec: Strong I suppose; I believe she copied and pasted from the brag sheet I’d given her, but she is very enthusiastic and knows me well.

[/ul]**General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: ** Whoops, almost didn’t fill this out (hence edit). Congratulations to all who got in! I cannot wait to meet all of you this coming year! Hmm, let’s see, further notes: I selected English Language & Literature as my major, with Liberal Arts second and Undecided third. Interviewed and left behind a writing portfolio that apparently went into my file. Have visited campus many times since I was very, very small. Dream come true!

Congratulations to all of you who got in!
I’ve been waiting for my decision for a long time now, being international(Indian), I understand the mail might take time but doesn’t Pomona send international students an email notifying them of their decision?

Nice Whitman reference at the end. I adore that poem.

@firstfeathers

You give me hope. We have similar stats (I have a higher SAT and slightly lower GPA) and it seems like we wrote pretty similar essays. Mine were about the same subject matter. I love your common app essay though, I feel like mine pales in comparison.

This forum helped me navigate through the college admissions process, so I decided to post my stats for future reference.

Decision: Accepted

College and Program:

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I (by section): 2260 one sitting (750 CR/710 M/800 W)
[] SAT IIs: 800 World History 790 Lit
[] ACT:
[] APs: (9th~11th) Human Geo, WH, Euro, Lang, Physics B, USH all 5s except Physics (12th) Lit, Bio, Calc BC, Macro, US Gov
[] IBs:
[] GPA (UW, W): 3.895 UW
[] Rank: 34/728 (top 5%)
[] Other stats: Governor’s Honors finalist in social studies (didn’t attend), QuestBridge finalist, stuff that the adcom probably did not know about like TASP and school awards.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: Young Democrats (President), extensive volunteering with church and a local animal shelter, debate club (school doesn’t have a competitive debate team), minor involvement in student government. I also am involved in a few other political activities such as publishing a feminist zine and organizing kids to write to senators, some of which I briefly and non-specifically mentioned in one of my essays, but did not put them down on the CA since I don’t consider them as formal “extracurriculars.”
No ECs freshman year, due to family circumstances.
[] Job/Work Experience:
[] Essays (subject and responses): CA was on riot grrrl, received generally favorable responses. Pomona supplement was on local politics and the immigrant community and quite awful, although I did not show it to other people.
[] Interview: Awkward. I remember some bits. We were talking about this Bergman film I watched at TASP, so I asked him if he has ever seen it, just trying to be friendly, and he was like “nope.” I also mentioned that I want to go to a college where conservative opinions aren’t drowned out, and he was like “there are few conservatives at Pomona.” I guess it didn’t hurt me too much.
[] Teacher Recs: Didn’t read, but probably good.
[] Counselor Rec: Didn’t read. It’s her first year and we don’t know each other well.
[] Applied on (EA?): ED II
[] Hook (if any):

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Georgia
[] School Type: Semi-competitive public, but few people apply to liberal arts colleges.
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: F
[/ul]**General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: ** I didn’t even send in my financial aid documents since I thought I’d be rejected. Looking at some of y’all’s stats, I still don’t know how I got accepted. Also I think I put down philosophy as my prospective major!

Did any of you guys get your financial aid packages already?

I’m in China right now, waiting for my decision. Has anyone gotten an email decision or decision by post?

@Firstfeathers: I just read your common app essay. It was beautiful.
