Pomona Class of 2017

rhsinclair: Haha, me too, ‘straight 800s and a rejection’ - makes me feel sick! But it also makes me hopeful because it means that they really do look at other things than just test scores.
In terms of online portals, it could be possible they do an online portal as a lot of other unis like Princeton do, but from what I’ve read about Pomona it seems like it is definitely going to be either through post or email.

@Princeton - no they haven’t, which could mean that it got lost somewhere along the way, or that we’ll be receiving one detailing what to check and when for decisions soon enough. Probably the former though.

@Britishstudent - I’ve got a 2130, 4.0 GPA, 710 Lit and 790 WH (learned Literature in a month… US students have 3-4 years of literature-based classes, apparently. I don’t even take it for A-Level. Also, learned World History in a month. Arguably the hardest thing I’ve ever done.) My A-Levels are predicted AAA; GCSEs are 6As 4As.

I know that feel about people not having any idea where anywhere is. Some didn’t even know Princeton. Meh.

Oh, and I go to a fairly well-renowned private school in the North-West. I’m the only person applying to the US, I’ve had to do everything myself -.-

POmani - well done on your scores and a-levels/GCSEs, they’ll give you a great advantage I’m sure. I also had to do EVERYTHING myself which as I’m sure you know is actually an extremely large task (from financing SAT tests and application fees to organising all the school’s paperwork, it was a huge challenge). I go to a London state school where no one else applied to the US either, so it was sort of a ‘Oh you’re thinking of applying to America… ok… great… but you should know as a school we only have a responsibility for domestic University applications and so we can’t offer you any help…’ But it all got done in the end! Ok, I feel like I’m rambling and clogging up the thread now, so I’ll stop!

Once again - Genuinely, fingers crossed for everyone and I hope we all get good news on whatever day we end up getting notified! :)

Any chance we’ll get notified this Friday? :/

@collegedreamers, I doubt we’ll hear back Friday–their website DOES say April 5th for decision notification. Even if they send it earlier, doesn’t Pomona notify by mail only?

@British Cheers mate! You know, they said almost word-for-word what they said to you about not being responsible for it etc. Respect to you for the whole financial side of things, it really does mount up, particularly when you have to pay a fee for every college you apply to.

Still no reply… poor customer service.

POmani - very nice looking stats! Well done! I think everyone and their Mums will be emailing the admissions office, so a delay is probably expected. Maybe the extra wait will make it all worthwhile in the end? :)

Last year people were posting their results on 3/22, so hopefully we’ll start hearing soon. Not counting on anything though.

@rhsinclair - thanks a lot! That’s true, they’re probably inundated by requests and questions far more urgent than my own. What other colleges/universities have you applied to?

I’m getting impatient; I just want to know! lol

^that feel, bro.

So does anyone know how many days it takes for the mail to get to New York? Maybe next Weds/Thurs?

Decisions were actually sent out about 6 hours ago, so good luck to everyone!

I have no idea how long it will take for the mail to get to specific locations, but for most of you all, get ready for the Monday envelope!
(And kudos to all for making it this far!)
@POmani - There’s a chance that they were still working really hard on putting together the incoming class.

^that’s true.

I think it depends on what time they mailed them out on Friday…I’m estimating Tuesday?

And I don’t suppose we can check the decision in the portal ahead of time? I live in Texas, but we have incredibly slow service. The letters may get to the UK before they get here!

Haha, perhaps. I don’t see anywhere on my pomona admissions portal to actually check my decision. I guess you should email them requesting your decision via email.

So tempted to email asking for my decision haha…would that be too obnoxious?
