@IllIlllIIllllll Don’t take it so hard that you misstepped and applied ED 1 to Pomona versus Brown. Both are top colleges. You’d be lucky to get into either one, and you’re likely not to get into both. Be happy if you get admitted to Pomona. You can’t be admitted to a better college with better opportunities.
@IllIlllIIllllll One of my main criteria for choosing a school was how liberal and socially conscious the campus was, so I definitely wouldn’t worry about that at Pomona. It’s why I liked Pomona way more than Claremont McKenna. And both Scripps and Pitzer are known for being super liberal, so if you get in, those student groups are open to you if you feel you need them.
@DyingInside Breathe!!! Such a good song choice.
Does “the Friday before the 15th” mean that ED1 decisions will be released on 12/8 or 12/15? 12/15 does happen to fall on a Friday this year… Thanks for all of the help, everyone!
@alexmatpat I don’t think anyone has the answer to the 12/8 and 12/15 debate… sadly.
Has anyone gotten a request for their Q1 grades?
I really, really hope it’s this friday. :I and @NebbyBag , I was wondering the same question too. I didn’t get one; did you?
@enenalal I asked my counselor today and nope nothing…
@alexmatpat last year, the 15th was on a thursday, and they posted decisions on the 9th, a friday.
the Ivies are also supposed to notify results by Dec15, but apparently, they usually post the decisions earlier-- the second friday of December. although they didn’t post the exact release date yet, most of my friends (who applied to the Ivies) are assuming that they’re getting the results this friday.
We’ll never know for sure, but I’m assuming Pomona also releases decisions this friday, which is the 2nd friday of the month AND the friday before the 15th. (again, this is my guess, so… )
@enenalal Thank you so much! I am hoping that ED1 decisions will be released on Friday - my fingers are crossed! And to answer the Quarter 1 grades question, I sent my Quarter 1 transcript on my own to my Admissions Rep via email since I didn’t think that my College Counselor would send them until much later.
Another day has passed!!! The background music for this week should be “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri:
“One step closer… I have died every day waiting for you!!” haha, literally.
Now come to think of it, “The Final Countdown” will work perfectly too!
Also no Q1 grade request for me, either. I don’t know what I wish for, I hope they won’t see my Q1 Grades at the same time as I want any reassurance I can get. According to my research, it is sent around 1-3 days before decisions come out. So, I am expecting some of us will get it this Wednesday or even tomorrow. I just don’t know what they do with the Q1 grades and that makes me nervous. I have a hard time imagining that they re-read all apps that they received Q1 grades for and then make decisions in 2 days but they did say that they place emphasis on these grades.
Any thoughts, speculations?
@Quiches I really hope they ask for my Q1 grades, because of my situation. my gpa’s lower than the median because I came to the US two years ago (not to make an excuse, but that IS the reason so…). I had straight A’s this semester so I hope they see all that effort I put in to raise my grades up ahhh pomona.
and also, it’s still monday here in California XD
@enenalal If you think your Q1 grades will positively affect your app, don’t wait for the request! Get it sent out by your counsellor as soon as you can. My Q1 grades are not bad but I feel like I wouldn’t want to touch my GPA on my app.
Haha, I am in the Pacific timezone too!
1-3 days before decisions? I’m surprised. That’s really late
@nostalgicwisdom did u ever call to figure out the sat fiasco
Wondering if anyone has seen the # of Early Decision applicants to Pomona for this year announced anywhere?
@LibbyOK Probably not, but its always around 200/1000~ applicants based on the past 2 years so 19% acceptance rate.
On a separate note, on the cds of 2017-18, it says the announced on 12/15??? What???
@LibbyOK According to @NebbyBag who was on the directors chat: “The number of ED applicants remained flat this year. There is no quota for ED acceptance. However, they take the strongest students from either ED or RD either way. The ED pool is strong this year.”
@IllIlllIIllllll if you see this link here, they released decisions on the 9th:
Pomona Admissions’ Facebook page posted today that there were 10 students admitted through Posse foundation.
Major congrats to these ten awesome individuals (if any of you are reading the thread)!!! We envy you lots!
So, that makes 27 (10 + 17 through QB) who are already a part of the class of 2022! Yayy for them!
