@IllIlllIIllllll maybe you can try emailing your regional officer like right now to explain your situation?(or get your counsellor to do it if possible) Maybe they are already finished with decisions, but it is a worth a try. For reference, my counselor just emailed my AO this afternoon and got an reply. Pomona is usually very responsive.
@NebbyBag What did your college counselor email Pomona about?
@gnowr35 about sending my first trimester grades. Pomona didn’t email my counsellor for a request because my school district doesn’t finalize T1 marks until next week. (Weird because an awaiting status appeared on my portal) We are trying to send in grades early.
@mtyk45 Not sure, about that.
But thanks for the input everyone! I’ll definitely be emailing them now. But I am afraid its too late
@IllIlllIIllllll if i were you, i would just give it a shot regardless. it may not affect your decisions a lot but i feel like anything would help. also, even if it doesn’t work out, two B’s aren’t bad so don’t worry too much
can’t believe wednesday is almost over…in a few hours it’ll be thursday…and after that it’ll be FRIDAY… @-)
@ztarik Hmmm, that’s weird! Are you sure the grade request was from Pomona? There were a number of other schools that requested last week, but there had been no evidence for Pomona to request this early. Oh well, maybe it was a special recruitment. Don’t worry about it!
@nostalgicwisdom YES! That’s a brilliant idea and what I wanted to suggest too (so we can benefit the next class). Let’s all put specific details about grade requests to see if there was really a pattern/ correlation. Let’s all co-author the research paper: analysis of Pomona admissions trends through CC (I am kidding :))).
@Quiches yes I’m sure it was for Pomona
@nostalgicwisdom In your experience, is the request for Quarter grades on the application portal a new thing??
@Quiches does your portal still say awaiting Q1 grades after your counselor has sent them? my counselor sent it a few hours ago, but in the portal it still says “awaiting.”
Yes, it is. In the past, counselors were contacted directly to send in the grade request. Applicants wouldn’t have known unless their counselor informed them or if they asked. It wasn’t asked in the portal.
They might have realized that this uncertainty before the admissions process could contribute to stress (“why did I not get a request?”), so perhaps they decided to list it in the portal for everyone. Not completely sure. But in past years, it definitely wasn’t the case that every single ED student had a Quarter Grade Request.
wait what??? my act score section on the applicant checklist said it just got updated yesterday. HELLO??? I sent it in like weeks ago when I told them my story and they told me they’d accept it a week after the ED deadline. !!!
@IllIlllIIllllll My act score section was updated like three days ago even tho I sent my scores 2 months ago and they had received them about 2 months ago as well. I never sent any new scores to them either, so it’s kind of weird.
^^^same here. I think it is just because they updated their score report policy to self-report. So I assume the system had an update 3 days ago. Please don’t worry yourselves over this!
I know this might be surprising but they decide on admissions until legit the day before decisions come out. I’ve seen them from outside the window the day before Friday, sitting in the conference roomat night (yes, well after 5) deciding who to admit.
If things are the same, there is still some time. They might be discussing right now, even. So don’t be too stressed if things are starting to check and whatnot! I don’t think they’ve finalized decisions yet; they’re likely in committee figuring out who to admit.
My SAT is the same way. It used to say October and now it says it came in on Sunday. It’s probably just a glitch or something.
Also, did anyone else have a request for grades on their portal, but their counselor was never sent an email?
Hi guys! I’m new to this thread and also applied to Pomona as ED! Just read all the comments… for those whose counselor was requested Q1 grades, how did your counselor do this exactly…? should the counselor upload the grades as optional report on common app, or just email it to Pomona…? I found the notification on my portal today, and contacted my counselor immediately. But I just logged in my CommonApp and found out that she had uploaded it as an optional report. Is it the right way to do this…? If not does it mean that my counselor may not get a request through email actually?? OMG 2 days till the decision comes out and it just feels like 2 decades…!!
@DyingInside You described exactly me.
@LycheeRosie wait, I have the same question too! my counselor asked me if she could upload it via commonapp or if there was a separate way to do this. she uploaded it on commonapp but it’s not showing up on my portal so i’m getting nervous
@everyone about their SAT/ACT scores. I have the same thing! It says 12/3/2017 now but I sent it in October and it used to say 11/1/2017. If everyone’s portals look like this, it should be no concern. It could just be the system updating automatically.
@enenalal Mine still said awaiting for about two hours after the grades were sent. I just checked now and it said received. Don’t worry about it. If it is sent, they will process it.
@nostalgicwisdom That’s so cool to know! Guess they are procrastinators, too, haha! I swear if I am lucky enough to be accepted, I will secretly peek into the window next year and just reflect on how full circle life is. I am just wondering why do they wait so long? There are not that many ED apps and they said (according to the director’s chat) that they have read most apps two weeks ago. Is it just committee going on rn? Have they filtered out some apps already?
