I feel like Berkeley has become a bureaucratic mess. Pomona all the way.
Berkeley has ALWAYS been a bureaucratic mess; still a world-class university, though. Although in this case, I think Pomona is the better option.
Yeah, I showed Pomona’s Forbes ranking to my parents. I think they’re leaning more towards Pomona, but they want to me to really make sure.
Their USNews ranking isn’t bad either. And given the different methodologies, being ranked well in both shows breadth of quality.
Chiming in to add my voice in support of Pomona. Remember recommendations are crucial for admissions to medical school. In a smaller environment, it will be much easier to get to know your professors and make an impression on them.
Another Pomona vote. It’s less expensive, your professors will be much more accessible, you will be able to register for all the classes you need, and I believe it will be easier to get a higher GPA at Pomona than at Berkeley.
Pomona all the way… And, may I suggest that you go off to Pomona and pretend that you are further away from home? Go home as often as you would from Berkeley. I have a friend with a daughter disappointed to have her school only 10 mins from home. So, they gave her the same advice and she’s had a great college experience.
For all of your positives on Pomona, you should go to Pomona!

So I decided on Pomona! Based on what you all stated and my research, I believe Pomona is the best choice for me. Thanks to all those who took the time to give some helpful advice!!
