Hi sarah_2:

Not sure why your post has fallen between the cracks, so to speak, but I thought I would give you the benefit of my “two cents worth”…

Your stats are generally quite good, although the 3.62 GPA is a little on the low side (reason?). Your ACTs are respectable as well; the 10 on the essay shows you possess excellent writing skills-- which should stand you in good stead on the college apps. Make sure they are well written and add dimension to the app by fleshing out your personality/goals/passions.

My take: (assuming you score at least 4 or 5 on your APs)

Pomona - 65/35
Columbia - 60/40
USC - 85/15
Occidental - in
Barnard - 85/15
Cornell - 75/25
All UCs - 75/25 for UCLA & Berkeley, 90/10 for second tier UCs, in at all others

If you feel you’ll do better on a second ACT, and you’ll get 5s on all your APs, then retake by all means. A 34+ will take you off the ledge for some of the schools you listed and materially improve your chances.

Good luck!

I agree with the above…Honestly, I think you’ll get in everywhere but columbia

Hope you get in Pomona…that’s my first choice school!!!
