CONGRATS everyone who’s gotten in so far!!!

General Comments:

Still waiting in norcal.

the mail came and no word yet…

still waiting in Colorado.

@ KYST17
I came home all excited because I was absolutely convinced the letter would come today hah. Looks like I have another few days of expectational bliss.

Congrats to all who got in!! Won’t be posting stats because I think they can be misleading. The admission committee reads everything submitted and has their own priorities, which probably change each year depending on college goals and department needs. What someone might guess is a hook could very well not be the reason he/she was selected. If you applied to Pomona ED, you are likely a very desirable candidate at other “most selective” schools so keep your head up no matter what happens. :)

@willyloman

I know! Me too!
I pretty much stared through the window for an hour for the mail to come!
SO sick of waiting!! (but honestly, I prefer hearing nothing yet to being rejected…)

for those of you who were accepted- did your financial aid letter, come with your acceptance letter? Thanks!

Sorry for those who have to wait…

@Ilove: I have fairly strong scores, very strong rank, very strong ECs. Any applicant who gets accepted to Pomona (or other places) will have those things. The same formula applies for basically all top schools: differentiate yourself. CCers tend to place far too much stock in SATs and rank. I had three major ECs, as opposed to a dozen small ones. If you’re legitimately interested in your ECs, and you show it through your application, then you have a good shot at any school. I’m not saying SAT and rank aren’t necessary, but after a certain point they aren’t a determining factor.

I got deferred :(

Sorry Virology :frowning: I seem to remember some people were deferred for ED and then were accepted RD last year. Keep your chin up, you WILL find the perfect fit at Pomona or elsewhere.

Thanks NJ Mom of 2. Yes, one of those people has already kindly given me advice on what to do to try to get off the deferred list in RD. I really hope to do so. I’ll make sure to keep everyone updated.

Sorry Viro :/

@acceptances: the acceptance letter says we must submit the $500 by Jan 3. the ED form says that the $500 fee will be waived when signed. i’m guessing we just send the form, but maybe i misunderstood?

Still no word.

Anyone from San diego heard anything yet?
It seems to me with being so close, we should have received news already

nevermind, i called admissions and apparently the sentence that says the fee will be waived is a mistake and we need to submit the $500.

Check your email. I just got accepted.

Congrats! You’re welcome- they sent that because of my call haha. See you next year.

They messed up that last sentence- “we offer my warmest congratulations”?. They also left out a period on the acceptance letter in addition to the fee mistake. Admissions is clearly having a hard time.
