pomona vs. pitzer for the non-trad

one more step on my college search.

pitzer is obviously geared more towards non-traditional students like me, but is there something about pomona that i'm overlooking? my major is going to be art history, an intercollegiate program, so academics are not an issue (or are they?).

What are you overlooking? How about the fact that Pomona is a better school in almost every single aspect compared to Pitzer? But then again, if you’re not going to grad school I guess you wouldn’t really care how your school boosts your application. But also keep in mind that employers will be WAY more likely to hire you from Pomona than Pitzer.

Have you had a chance to visit the campuses and talk with students? See if you can so that you can see if you feel you’d fit in more at one than the other. The good news is that students at both are smart and friendly. I’d say an extreme stereotype is that Pomona students spend a lot of time thinking about grad school, while Pitzer ones think about changing the world.

so i’m back from interviews at both campuses. it seems that the quality of education will be the same. i am planning to go to graduate school, specifically the library science program at ucla.

availability of off-campus housing at pitzer makes it my preferred choice. i had seen the dorms at pomona on top chef masters, and they’re pretty much like that in real life.
