Should I take math II again? I got a 770 but I’m afraid that my score might go down. Also, I did not really study (took only one diagnostic test).

Nope. Don’t re-take Math II. And you’re right, doing a re-take could end up in a lower score.

I got an 800 on World History, and a 790 on chem, but only a 730 on French. Will that be a problem?

If you’re not a native speaker, you’re fine. Honestly, I’m ecstatic about a 740 on my French test. That shouldn’t be a problem, HADC10.

However, I scored a 780 on my Physics. Should I bother retaking it next June with Chem (the AP teacher at my school had a 92% pass rate on the AP test last year; I’m pretty sure I can get an 800) and USH?

i took lit for the first time in june and i ended up getting a 710. i don’t know if i should retake it or not, considering that i didn’t study at all for it the first time so i might be able to do better if i study for it this summer.

i’m already retaking math ii in the fall because my score is unspeakable (580 using a calculator that was a different/more advanced model than i was used to and didn’t know that it was really faced paced) and possibly taking bio e as well.

for people that have taken three subject tests in one day, is it too much?

Physics: 710
Math 2: 800

Is the physics score worth sending in for ivy leagues?
Should I retake physics.

Nope. It’s not tiring, at all.

3 tests in a day isn’t bad.

Waaaa. 720 World History. I am sure I forgot at least half of the info so I am too lazy to retake lol. But is it acceptable for near-ivies like Duke?

taking three tests is not tiring unelss they’re all boring topics you hate to death. For example I was dying during my world history test after having taken approximately like 5000000000 similar tests in my AP class all year, but I thoroughly enjoyed taking the Latin and felt really good about it. (ironically I got a higher history score, even though I hate the class and I love Latin… and the history curve was probably harder than the Latin one)

Heres my situation:
Math I: 750 Content possible retake
Math II: 800 Very Happy what i was hoping for and actually got
Chem: 680 ugh unlike the 2 math ones where I was shooting for a 800 I knew I wasnt going to get that on this one but i was hoping for low to mid 700s. Took 2 practice test first one was 720 second one was 750 (pr tests) so I know I can do better.
Im applying for engineering so i think science is important and some schools require that one of yours be a science. So Im 99% sure Im going to retake chem and If i do i might as well retake Math I and see if i can do any better. This is my plan now is there any reason i should do anything else other than this. And for those of you who are going to say try Bio or Physics instead of Chem NO, i didnt even know any bio when I took it 3 years ago and i my physics class was fun but was not geared toward a good result on an SAT.

^ Why do you still need Math I when you have II?

Arghh… Should I retake a 760 Lit? :S

I have a 790 Math II, 760 Bio E, and 730 USH. I’m planning on sending the first two to colleges, and am applying to top tier schools. Do I need to retake, or are my scores satisfactory?

May - U.S. History - 780
June - Math II - 740
June - Physics - 720
June - Literature - 620 (quite surprised since I fell asleep while taking it. 3rd test)

I’m probably going to retake Math II and Physics next November.

This thread makes me feel kinda-better. At least I’m not the only ivy-hopeful without amazing scores. But then there are people with scores I would have been ecstatic about retaking them.

Will you retake your SATII’s?
I will retake my Chem 720 in October.

Does doing so hurt your chances with admissions?
I hope not. I think that the higher retaken score should replace the lower initial score if the school doesn’t have score choice. If it does, then we’re fine.

How should I study, and when should I start?
Lol, I started today. I’m so screwed this summer, between studying for the SAT, this, and my internship. Plus, summer homework. I didn’t study as well as I could have, so I’m going through barrons and pr again. Don’t know what else to do.

How sad were you after you saw your score? haha (i was… very sad)
Very, very upset. Spent an hour at 6AM staring at my score and every tutoring company in the area. Felt better when an older friend was happy about my score.

How many more test dates will there be before the early January deadline for Ivies?
That, I don’t know. I’m a rising junior with many more test dates, but will retake in October

@ waitingforivy, I seriously did the same as you yesterday morning. My alarm went off, and i considered not getting up… but i did for some reason. Went to the computer, saw my scores, forgot where i was, developed a nervous twitch, and went back to bed. It was horrible. lol

and i just looked at collegeboard’s schedule and they have october, november, and december test dates. The december date is a bit on the line though, i think it’s the 4th. score reporting takes about two and a half weeks, so that’s cutting it close, but doable for the more desperate of us (me).

I got a 750 in Math II. It’s honestly not that bad, seeing as I procrastinated studying until literally the last minute, stayed up all night, and took the test half-asleep. But it’s still really disappointing, because the curve is supposed to be easy. I really don’t know if I should retake it, but I guess it’s better to be safer than sorry, right?

okay, so my scores are as follows-
math 2: 790
french: 730
chem: 710

i’m applying ed to upenn and i’m a legacy. so the question is…should i retake?
i probably wouldn’t be retaking math (i never even considered retaking it until i came on here and discovered that 790 sucks in the minds of many CCers), but i’m wondering if i should retake french/chem? i was exhausted that day, and i know i can do better on french.
the problem is, since i’m applying ed, i only have one test date remaining. i was planning on retaking my SAT (780 M, 680 CR, 800 W) to raise my CR above 700, as my college counselor suggested, but now i’m wondering which is more important?

I got a

770 for US History (pleasantly surprised :))
and
710 for Math Lvl 1

I think I need to raise my math 1 with a retake (since I didn’t even study for this one). I could take math 2 but I really don’t feel like studying that much and I know that I would need to sharpen up my skills if I were to take math 2. How poorly do colleges view math 1?
