Poor at a Rich College?

Has anyone dealt with this? My Questbridge friend is a little worried about this.

My daughter went to Brown on almost 100 percent full need based grants. She was able to scrimp with a few things and get along okay. She didn’t come home that much as it was an expensive ride. But she did get grants for summer research and taking an extra class here and there. She got a few paid trips, one to robotics conference and one to a Women in computing. She studied abroad one semester and all her aid covered that. She applied for and got a Gilman grant that paid for her flight and gave enough extra money she got to travel around to a few countries. She lived off campus and saved a bit on room and board Jr and Sr year which gave her extra money in her pocket. Most of her jobs were very valuable positions assisting professors or TAing or sometimes pretty well paid hours in the call center.
