I am beginning the college admission process and recently requested a copy of my transcript to get a sense of where I am. My freshman grades are awful (2.85 GPA), and I received 3 "I"s my sophomore year before a school change. After the school change however, I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA in both my sophomore and junior years, though I did receive two more "I"s. My course-load has not been rigorous, as I have take no honors or AP classes. My SAT is 2170 on my second try with 780R, 670M, and 720W. My ECs are very weak due to some personal issues.

How do colleges view poor freshman grades?

I am aware that I am not tier 1/ivy league college material, but assuming good senior grades do I have a chance at moderately competitive tier 2 colleges?
