Poor Guy's Chances

Hello all that are willing to help me :P

I'm and international student (Indian citizen living in Venezuela) that is considering applying, but I need to know whether I stand a good chance or not. Here are some quick numbers:
SAT: 1410 (690 Math & 720 Verbal)
SAT IIs (Retaking): Math IIC - 700, Writing - 640, and Physics - 640
GPA: 3.34 on a 4.0 scale
Rank: Approx. top 20%

Oh, and here is just some side info:
- Doing full IB with 4 Higher Level courses.
- Go to an American International School in Caracas, Venezuela.
- Can only pay about $6000 per year.
- Need A LOT of financial-aid.

If I can't get into this college, could you suggest places where I could get in? And also, if it's not too much trouble, a few places that would quite possibly offer me a merit award and need-based aid? Thank you very much to those who help me out! It's very much appreciated, and if anyone needs help, please free to ask me.

PS: If you want me to present my ECs and awards, tell me, and I'll do so.

I son't know, Abishek; your stats are similar to my D (& she also has excellent ECs...) This is a really selective school with a great many applicants to choose from. I don't think that it is an impossibility, but neither is it very likely (pretty much like my D's case.)

Why did you pick this school? My D picked it due to the fact that it was not a keg/frat oriented school and it seemed to have a very happy, serene, low key environment and very nice people. She liked the honor code very much. She also needed Division 3 to continue her sport. (Being near a big city was a bonus but not critically important.)

I did a thread called "Haverford-esque matches & safetys?" on CC that discusses colleges similar to Haverford with respect to the elements, above, that particularly appealed to my D... But if the elements that appealed to you were different ones, your similar schools might be quite different also. For example, if you really want a Quaker school (Guilford, Earlham), or if you really want a small LAC of 1200 (lots of these!), or maybe you like that it is in a multi-college exchange setting (Amherst/5-colleges; Claremont Colleges)?

Hopefully this will get you started. Good luck!

Haverford offers need-based aid to only two internationals per year. Haverford does not offer merit-aid. You have a chance of getting in, but I think the two internationals offered need-based aid would probably be extremely strong applicants (1500 plus scores, 750 plus SAT II's and near-perfect GPA's).

Good luck!

Thank you both, SBmom and Florus. I appreciate both of yours input. Firstly, SBmom, I started looking at Haverford mainly because of the "honor code" and the strength of their liberal arts programs. I want to major in either Math and Econ or Astrophysics/astronomy and Economics, and Haverford is strong in all of these. Honestly, I'd love to go to a place that is in the middle of a huge city such as Columbia U. because I'm a city-guy, but I must be realistic and know that every international student applies to these big city schools, which will obviously lessen my chances of getting financial aid. But, I'll surely look into the schools you've mentioned. Thank you very much!
Now, Florus, what you just told me was ... well, to say the least, scary! Only TWO international applicants!? Jesus... and yeah, you're probably correct -- those two candidates are probably hella strong. Well, thank you. I appreciate your input.

Anymore?

Super-you might look at Grinnell. It's definitely not near a big city, but they tend to be more generous with international students than many colleges in the U.S.
