In short I am a Junior Geology major(really enjoy it). However, chances of finding a job in this field after graduation is looking very bad. So basically are there any other options I can look into for finding a decent job? Also it is far too late for me to change my major so that is not an option
Become a teacher? Look into employment with the federal government in the National Parks system?
@bigfish767 You should go to your school’s counselours or advisors also and see what they say. They might be able to get you a job in Geology. Hang in there.
My dd plans to major in Geology too. There are actually lots of job possibilities you could look into depending on what area of Geology you’re interested in. Here is a good article with info about careers for your major. http://geologydegree.org/career-options-geology-majors/
A general search on Indeed for geology turned up over 10,000 hits. I dug through a few of them, and a lot are for entry-level geological technician positions that only require a BA/BS. Those were all on the first page of results.
You also don’t have to work in geology specifically…there are lots of jobs that don’t require any specific major.
Have you done any internships? If you haven’t already, start looking for some summer opportunities so you can gain experience.
