Pop up again.

Well…the pop up is back but this one was a total crack up. It supposedly was from Southern New England Telephone…which was gobbled up by ATT many years ago…SNET doesn’t even exist.

I should have taken a screenshot…but I didn’t!

Yes, pop ups again. How do these happen and why can’t they be prevented?

My pop up says it’s for an AT&T anniversary award. Lol

@thumper1, please be sure to tag Sorin when you have issues.

Screen shot sent…because, of course…it happened again. @CCadmin_Sorin

I am getting these too. Just on an iPad never on my laptop. Super annoying. I have a screenshot but I’m not sure where to send it.

This morning there’s a super annoying pop up at the bottom of the screen from Bloomingdales. As I go to click the X to close it, the ad moves (taking up to half the screen) as if I’m chasing the X and its trying to escape. I have some choice words for this particular bit of advertising but they’re not fit to post here.

As an FYI, I had this yesterday and already reported it to the admin, who is pushing the complaint up the food chain. Fingers crossed.

I am experiencing the same as @evergreen5, bloomingdales and soundwaves adds, moving up and down from the bottom of the screen. It is very annoying when it moves up and covers half the page, and although it will move back down on its own, you still have to hit the x to completely get rid of it.

Note to some young, upstart advertisers who think they’re being so creative at catching attention: I am much more likely to actually read words if the ad doesn’t move. I literally cannot stand moving text and will avert my eyes to the extent possible while thinking swear words at the business being advertised. If your ad is visually nauseating in any way, believe me, you have failed.

^^^Agreed. I get that they want to draw attention to the ad, and making it move is one way to do that. But it is distracting and annoying. And, because it’s moving, sometimes I go to click on the X, miss it, and hit the ad. ARGH. Then they think they are getting a ‘click’, which makes me even more annoyed…I played a part in contributing to positive metrics on CC. 8-|

Now I am getting pop ups that move up from the bottom of the screen to obscure the menu on the top left hand side of the screen - the list of links that start with Forum Home and Latest Posts. Not sure whose bright idea it was to have pop ups that obscure user navigation features that were presumably carefully thought out when they were developed. They make the site more cumbersome to use and I’m pretty close to being done with it. I can’t be the only one.

Looks like CC uses Quantcast to serve ads. They’ll probably need to complain to them, in turn, and say their users don’t want to see super-obtrusive popup ads.

When ads become really obnoxious, people start leaving or using adblockers. Most ad-serving companies should know this…
