There are groups that are definitely more social than others at my school, but there is no dominant popular group. There are about five general groups in my class that are all on an equal tier of social dominance, with some people who belong to two groups that form a sort of “mutual friend buffer zone” that tie the different social groups together.

No such group exists at my school.

My school is a small private school. With about 120 Juniors, and yea my class is known as the “clique” class. Its very stereotypical like, the “popular” group are not the people you wanna be with though. There too fake and don’t want to achieve much in life, their also very conceited. I mean partying and drinking every weekend, having sex isn’t cute for a young kids. Funny, how I used to be friends with these people Freshmen yr, stopped being friends with them. And see HS completely different then ever, wish I never knew them before.

I don’t think a group can happen in a large school though, since a group won’t be able to dominate.

idk, I envy you all. In my senior class, you have the “geek” group where people play Pokemon and Yugioh cards every single time they make any form of physical or mental contact.
You have the theater group as usual. They’re an interesting yet eccentric bunch.

You’ve got the popular ASB group, the “Asian” group where a bunch of Asians only hang out. You got the jock group, the nerd group (all straight As, socially awkward, etc…most CCers are familiar with this group) and groups based off of arbitrary clubs.

We used to. Now they’re like everyone else.

The pops back then were isolated. They bullied others and acted like they were better. No one talked to them, like, AT ALL. They talked to themselves, and I remember pretty much excluding them from everything. Interesting thing: since we were all Asians, the ‘popular’ group was made up of people who were pretty much white-washed Asians.

Now, the popular people are those who are nice, who will explain to you things when you don’t get stuff, and who are fun. Basically, they’re the smart people who don’t mind talking to ‘lesser beings’.

in my case, ~500 kids in my class.

There is no dominant group. From what I see, general major groups tend to be these:

-Band people.
-the “pop” group: major athletic stars, partiers, etc.
-the honors kids.
-choir kids
-asb-ish kids
-the rest. . .

The good thing: I’ve noticed that we all intermix fluidly, esp. so with the honors-pop-ASBish kids.

Popular group over here is the largest: drama. Make us laugh, make us love.

From what I’ve noticed, my school has three popular groups: American Pie-white, Smoke and Go Lift-white, and Black/Hispanic.
