I'll never give up the Birkenstocks; most comfortable sandals I've worn. Also, I hate the little thing that goes between the toes on thong sandals.

I bought Rainbows for school in SoCal, figuring they'd be better cause they last so long. The first day I was there I walked pretty far in them and they KILLED my feet. I've hardly worn them since and so have yet to break them in. Instead I wear my very cheap Old Navy sandals, which are always comfortable. You can wear them down really easily though.

Perhaps I should start trying to break in my Rainbows again... But, ow. The pain.

Quiksilver are good. You can get leather, but that's your choice. I once tried my friend's Rainbow sandals to take a walk to the park, and I barely made it back to his house. My feet hurt so much that day, I personally wouldn't call them sandals. I have a Banana Republic one, but I use my Reef ones more. They are really comfy.

rainbows have tons of different colors but the tan and brown and black ones are the most popular

I'm also comfy but you can't wear me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

theres these reef sandals that ive seen that have a bottle opener in them. like underneath them. weird/cool. but rainbows are still the best!

Abercrombie and birkenstocks pretty much rock my socks!!!

basically, light tan suede thick strap rainbows are the default shoe for southern californians. you can even wear em in december in upstate new york as i have recently been glad to have found.

isn't it a little bit boring that everyone looks the same?

I was wondering when someone would bring that up. Sometimes (especially in the summer), I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't wear flip flops at my college...

if you want some sandals that will last a longtime i recommend ralph laurens Lolland Sandal's there made well and there on sale right now http://www.polo.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2167976&cp=&origkw=sandal&kw=sandal&parentPage=search

maybe it's time to wear real shoes. sandals are strictly for beach and showerroom.

I lived in Southern CA all my life. Rainbows are definitely the most popular, but they're way expensive. I usually wore Old Navy flip flops. Cheap (2 for $5 in the summer), and they're comfortable enough for me. But then, I usually wore closed toed shoes. (Though some of my friends wore flip flops year round.)

By the way, the term is usually flip flops, not thongs, at least in CA. The term thongs usually brings underwear to people's minds. ;)

I had no idea sandals had such a following.

Where are you from? I'm in Texas now, and I'm noticing that the use of sandals here is much less than where I was in CA. And even though it makes sense in the winter - even Texan winters are colder than Southern Californian winters - its even somewhat true in the summer.

I guess in a way, the stereotypes of people from southern CA that say we're all surfers/beach people is right... ;)

Wish I lived somewhere wher sandals in december would be possilbe

It is possible in SoCal, bmulez. ;)

Quite possible in Houston at the moment. It's 63 degrees and muggy outside.

Rainbows are nice, if you want to be the trendy kid who follows what everyone else is doing.

Ocean Minded sandals are similar and have a little more cushion in them, for about the same price

and reef sandals are probably the softest with a nice feel to them, great if you are one of those kids who needs to wear sandals to the shower cuz ur paranoid,

because they are rubber and stay grippy while the leather rainbow and ocean minded sandals get slippery and dangerous

.."popular guy's sandles"...become sociable and whatever you wear will be "popular"
