Popular majors reduce admissions chances?

Does anybody know what the most popular majors are?

And, how hard are they to get into (compared to undecided)?

I'm so mad at myself for losing the booklet that they sent because I'm sure it had a pie chart on most popular majors, but all that I can find is the book from the year before, so here is what I gathered from the tour I took in July...

Apparently, the Carrol School of Management is the hardest (and I could be wrong) division to get admitted to. I think I remember Communications as the "most popular" major...

As far as ease of admissions go, I remember them saying that the Lynch School of Education and the Nursing school, which are both very good, are the "easiest to be admitted to.

If someone else has the brochure, I'm almost positive that there are pie charts that go over the popularity of majors that data would be a lot of help to you. Also, if you tour BC, they have these books right as you walk into the admissions office.

Can you be admitted to BC but not the school you applied to?

I doubt it, only because that would mean filling up another divisoin, (ie, the college) where there are students who wanted to be THERE in the first place. I mean, I applied as a Poli Sci major to the college, I probably wouldn't accept a spot in the engineering program for example. I think it functions like every other school, where you take your chances knowing how competitive the major you apply for is.

thanks for the help :)

i think the other aspect in applying to a "less competitive" school may hurt you because there arent as many spaces. unless i read incorrectly, lynch school of ed. only has 181 students.. therefore how many can they possibly accept for their freshman class?... not a lot. so initially i was excited to apply and i know education is what i want to major in but now im affraid that its gonna hurt me. we'll see. its all relative.

yeah, but you have to consider the number of people applying to each school, obviously the acceptance rate for lynch is higher than that of carrol...it's still BC regardlesss of your major it is still a competitive admissions process, it's just that in some schools its harder than others.
