Popular Music Major - My Situation

Good afternoon to everyone first off!

I'm posting (kind of scared) because I really just want advice on my situation. I'm 18 and about to start my first semester of Community College at MontCo in Pennsylvania. What I've always wanted to do is music, and specifically, popular music/audio engineering. I've done my research on Clive Davis and USC and I understand that they're both extremely selective and hard to get into, but I believe that their location and services they provide are extremely worth trying to get into. My question is, as a transfer student, how do I know what transfers over should I get accepted? Also, another question I have is, how long do I wait before I'm considered a transfer student? AND my last and final question is, if I don't get accepted, which place should I consider moving to with a different major such as communications, graphic design, or journalism? (as you can tell i want to do a lot of things in life)...I want to be in either USC or NYU and just network and get my music out there at that point. A lot of artists and well known people I look up either don't have degrees or degrees that have nothing to do with music anyway. I was leaning toward USC just because I feel I could network more in LA than NYC, but I may be wrong? Help would greatly be appreciated on any one of these questions. Thank you so much in advance.
