There's a stickied thread about this already.

I want the most popular book though. I don't know if the one listed in the stickied thread is the most popular. AND, then stickied thread is mostly about prep books, I want to know about text books.

The book by Dilulio and Wilson is considered the standard. Personally, I hated it. I thought it was repetetive, boring, poorly written, and too conservative. However, it will cover the AP curriculum well.

^ thanx, can anyone attest to this?

anyone?...

My govt class used Government by the People. It's a bit superfluous, but that can be a good thing.

I read some of it. I got a 4.

AP chemistry is to Zumdahl::as::AP US Gov't is to ___________.

American government: Institutions and Policies by James Q. Wilson is the most widely used one for AP US gov.

^thanx.....

American Government may be the most widely used, but it does not excuse the fact that it is terribly boring. I am the type of student who will actually read his textbook -- I read far more of The American Pageant than I really needed to, but I struggled through the atrocious writing, all the same. American Government though... I had difficulties with. After I realized I could ace the tests based on listening to the notes in class alone, I really stopped reading it.
