I'm not like unpopular at school but kinda in the middle. Went to my school's homecoming this night and I feel a little depressed because it's hard for me to "let loose" and really dance and stuff. Plus, I obviously knew a lot of people but not nearly as many as most others. I have plenty of friends, it just feels weird with all these 4'6" freshmen owning the friggin place cuz' they're small and cute and whatever, and like all the girls are crazy about them. Ughhhhhhhhh I'm 6'3" and I feel like crushing these freshmen lol!

Anyway it feels as though... well... I don't really know. I really hope I can get into a good college (like Princeton) because it will boost my confidence- I'm not super popular at school, but I will go to a great college, have a solid future, and hopefully have more fun than at HS.

College is a chance for you to re-define yourself. But, you will probably gravitate back to your normal self. If you're the kinda guy that can't "let loose" etc. in a party... it'll be difficult for you to let loose in college.

My advice is probably a cliche, but I'd advice trying to find friends that share similar interests.

"I really hope I can get into a good college (like Princeton) because it will boost my confidence- "

I'm just wondering if anyone can attest to this, but I was always under the impression that going to super elite colleges would make the less than super elite kids (aka me) feel dumber with the all around super insanely smart people around, anyone beg to differ?

but it may be diff for you if you are one of those insane geniuses, lol

Jeez, one of my clubs was hosting a middle school dance, and nevermind freshmen, the 6th graders were like stripping on the stage! Nasty little ho's in training.

THE FRESHMEN ARE SO DAMN SMALL!!!!! One of them is like 4 feet 6 inches. It saddens me this year to see such small freshmen. I think the world is becoming shorter or something. I was 5 feet 7 fresh year so its all good for me tho :).

"I really hope I can get into a good college (like Princeton) because it will boost my confidence- "

Princeton and other Ivy schools usually abase your confidence buddy (after you start going to class). But you are right the incoming freshman get smaller, but they grow faster (physically). They also have a lot more knowledge than us, but lack the ability to use it and have no common sense or logic.

Why would people feel bad about being the bottom of the barrel with top 0.1% of the population? You are still at a great college and you beat out thousands (actually millions when you look at the bigger picture).

Scherzo123, I was referring to some of the posts above mine stating that going to a great school usually lowers your confidence. I wasn't referring to any particular school.

Again, I agree-- the freshmen are hoes...at homecoming, it was freezing and a couple of them were wearing really tiny things...I was like...you should wear a sweater...it's cold.

I'm 5'3" (female though) and I would hate to be any taller cause I would feel so huge and bungly. The freshmen are taller than me but I don't have their aura. Anyway in my opinion it's not popularity that matters, but quality of friends, and if you go to a school that's right for you you're more likely to find people who are right for you.

I'm not popular. I'm not unpopular. I don't think anyone outside of my 10 friends even knows I exist. It's depressing when you're unnoticed and it feels like everyone else is so popular. I figure next year when I apply to college, I'll get rejected everywhere, be even more depressed, live alone for the rest of my life and just generally hate life. High school is just the first rung in my worthless life.
