Por favor, What are my chances?

SAT: 1870 (Critical reading: 690, Math: 640, Writing: 540)
ACT: going to take in September
GPA: 3.93 (not sure if unweighted or not)

Class rank: top 10%-20% out of 197. (not sure yet)

School: Public high school, focusing on science and engineering.

Took Pre-AP classes my frehsman and sophomore year, along with AP chem, AP US history, and AP English Language this year, and maintained an A and higher average all 3 years. I have college credit with RIT for two engineering classes I took in my freshman and sophomore year. I'll be taking AP Gov., Eco., English Lit, Physics, Calculus, and a new organic chemistry class that my school is starting this year (Chem III) for dual enrollment credit. I've also taken 3 years of spanish as a foreign language, the last year for dual enrollment.

Last month I was at Rice University as part of their Institute of Biosciences and Bioengineering program for 12 days, spending time in the Professor of Bioengineering's lab everyday, doing work in the lab.

Extracurriculars: 3 years as part of my school's Academic Decathlon team, this previous year taking 3rd overall at regionals, and this coming year, I am captain of the team. Along witht hat, I've ran in many 10Ks and 5Ks, sometimes associated with my school. I've volunteered at the local museum for 80 hours so far. Was an actor in the first locally produced play in my city, preformed 4 times, twice in theater, once for the state of the city address, and one last time for the museum.

Awards: School's "Vitruvian Man Award," supposedly for excelling at being "well-rounded." The award was never fully explained to me, but it's the highest my school gives out each year.

Rec: One from a professor at Rice, another from a post-doc at Rice; it would be possible to get one from every teacher I've ever had.

I plan to major in an engineering field, either Industrial or Chemical.

My list:
1. Rice University
2. University of Pittsburgh
3. Texas A&M University
4. Rochester Institute of Technology
5. UTPA (back up)

Pitt-in
Rice-kinda unfamilar, but you sound like a doable reach

I’ve never heard of the rest

Spanish in the Title got my attention  Claro que si!

I’m only really familiar with Rice and RIT. RIT is low-reachish in my opinion and Rice a reach. If you got your SAT (Writing especially) up, I think Rice could be more of a sure-thing.

Chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/741629-chance-improvements-2011-urm.html</a></p>

Rice University-a reach
Sorry don’t know much about the rest…but if you pull up your sat scores, you might be able to get into a bunch more schools since you do have solid academics and ECs/awards.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/740556-chance-average-indian.html</a></p>

looks good for RIT and Pitt , rice is a reachhh

I think that rice is a reach, but the rest are in the match range. Bring up the SAT and I think that Rice will definitely be a better shot for you. Good luck.
