Portable fans on test day

The school I'm taking the SAT at doesn't have air conditioning. Would it be okay if I brought a portable fan on test day?

You should probably call the school and ask; it’s probably a preferential thing. I doubt the CB has any rules against it. Dress lightly and don’t sit next to any windows, unless they are open!

Thanks! I think it also depends on how flexible the proctor is…fingers crossed!

Where do you live?
it shouldn’t really be a problem but you could just wear a light colored (preferably white) t-shirt with shorts
there’s no restrictions on types of clothing for all i know so dress lightly

There is nothing specifically prohibiting this, but the test supervisor at the site will probably have to approve it. If it is seen as causing a disturbance or distraction and only benefits you, they might say no. On the other hand, they might open windows or bring in fans that make noise, and the benefit to the group may outweigh the noise. If this is really concerning you, you should ask for an official accommodation to bring your fan, or tell the site administrator of these concerns and the site’s reputation, and perhaps something official can be done about it in the future. Students can complain about test conditions, including rooms that are too hot or too cold. They shouldn’t be holding SAT tests in unairconditioned rooms.

ask before u bring it
