Ditto to WayOutWestMom’s post… not at all binding. I’ve been out of commission the last few days! Let me know how can help with any of your questions.

ohh right never thought of looking at the faculty pages. thanks a bunch !
and i noticed their note about how the ur people understand the interests might change, but i just had no idea what to write at all before.

I have no idea what to do mine about. Would it be unlike for me to receive a grant if I proposed a project something along the lines of “The Parisian Affect: The City of Light’s Affect on Montreal’s language, culture and fashion in the 20th century?”

I would not use this exact idea, but I’m just using this as an example. Or would it be best to stick with local or on-campus research?

Well, if it’s any help my D wrote her proposal about doing a semester abroad at the University of London school of medicine and examining the differences in the way patients were diagnosed and treated for certain neuro-degenerative diseases (Parkinson’s, Myasthenia Gravis) under European treatment protocols compared to American treatment protocols. She tied it (very loosely) into research being done at UR’s med school on Parkinson’s and mentioned a prof by name.

What she’s actually using her grant for is—not that. Not even close.

langouste, if you tie it into some prof’s area of interest at UR, even remotely, I think you may have a better chance. (But that’s just my opinion.) Your project certainly doesn’t have to be done locally or on campus.

Received PRG letter a few weeks ago but still no admission decision. Very confused and concerned!
