Many students are required to submit portfolios of work with their applications. Many of our kids have already been through that, but the upcoming juniors will have that hurdle to overcome. I started this thread to hear some portfolio stories (OK, I'll admit that the stories about the rush to the post offices got my attention - a shared experience here as well; thank goodness for overnight mail!). Especially good here will be suggestions that could help upcoming students get their portfolios prepared.

My son had to do a portfolio of his creative work, mostly films/videos/animations he had done, so he chose to make a DVD. Lots of computers have DVD-burners these days and some software to put one together. The DVD format gave him all kinds of options. His "main portfolio movie" consisted of him talking about his interests, and introducing clips from his animations and movies. That was a total of 14 minutes. But it also allowed him to include the full version of each movie (available from the main menu) in case whoever was reviewing it wanted to see more. My wife and I knew that he had the requirement to produce a portfolio, but didn't really know how he was doing this until we saw the finished product. We were overwhelmed, and I guess it worked with the college as well.

Other suggestions about producing portfolios? Slides, prints from scans, video tapes?
