I really like art but I want to major in Electrical Engineering. I have a portfolio of drawings that would show my creativity. Am I able to send that to colleges even though I am majoring in Engineering? Would that count as a bonus?

I am currently going into Grade 11 and I just want to know if I should continue with my drawing or not. Most of my drawings are taking the current cellphones or ipods and modify them into what I think would be cool.

Please give me your thought!

Maybe if you tied it in by writing an essay about your interest in art and connecting it to your perspective major.

Some colleges encourage extra application materials. Look into the colleges you have in mind. But otherwise, you could showcase your skill by starting an art club and having a leadership role in it, or entering an art contest. This might work better because I personally think admissions people are a little drab by nature (no offense college acceptance gods!), and won’t necessarily have the artist’s eye that is able to see your ability.

If you take an art class, consider asking for a recommendation from your art teacher after showing them your portfolio.
