Portland State Honors program or University of Maryland?

I have been accepted into both schools, and I think I want to major in criminology. I received a $26,000 scholarship for four years at Portland State, but nothing for Maryland. Money might be a problem and I might have to take out some loans. Also if I go to Maryland I won't start until January of 2015, cause that was when I was admitted. I'll probably work for until my classes start.

Anyways I really don't know.

If money is an issue and Portland State offered you money when Maryland didn’t I would probably choose Portland furthermore if you don’t want to go to school in January than go for Portland. Loans can kill you

The amount of money doesn’t matter in itself, what matters is how much each costs after scholarships, per year, but BEFORE ANY loans. Can you provide us with the actual numbers so we can help you better?

Maryland’s criminology department ranks #1. UMD is highly underrated and gets very good students. Sure PSU (OR) may be cheaper, but what’s a degree from there worth, if anything?

Maryland is a state flagship research university with a 1300 acre campus. PSU (OR) is a no-name commuter school with buildings in downtown Portland that abut city park space.
