Okay I was wondering how you would write down having a position for something for one year, yet having participated in the activity for 4 years? For example would you write:

a) Key Club Treasurer (11th grade)
check off boxes for 9-12

b) Key Club
check off boxes for 9-12
Details: I was treasurer in 11th grade and handled money raised....

Which one would be the best way?

Or do you just not write the fact that you were only treasurer for a year?

I did it like this: (And I was also treasurer of Key Club, so this is actually how I wrote it)

Activity: Community Service
Positions Held: Key Club - Treasurer (11th-12th grade); Member since 10th grade
(Checked boxes 10, 11, 12) 3 Hrs / Week 36 Weeks / Year
(Checked box School Year)
Details: (I explained here what I did as treasurer)

This is how it looks on the common app (aside from the details section).

I hope this helps!

Best regards,

thank you! that helps clear things up. :)

You could also list them separately. 1 activity for each.

what do you mean 1 activity for each? like split key club into two and put member and treasurer? That doesn’t make much sense/I don’t have enough room to do that.

If you want to list them separately, that’s fine. It’s just easier to just say (Treasurer 11-12) and (Member 10-present).
