Thanks for the feedback, that’s why I asked the question! You are right, AOs don’t have a complete picture at this point, nor the individual’s application, so I should take it with a huge grain of salt. I let my enthusiasm get the best of me!!!
@skieurope Mom said the words used were “strongly advocate”, so that is why I said “literally”. One can call it hearsay, but Mom is very careful so I’ll take her recollection to the bank.
@Happytimes2001 Thanks, and good to know, but please, don’t say “they say that to everyone”, because they don’t. I speak to enough people going through this year’s BS interview process and AOs say lots of positive things, but I disagree with your statement.
Thanks again!
I would take it with a grain of salt- the AO likely hasn’t gone over your application, so they haven’t like decided if you’ll get in or not, if that makes sense? Obviously it feels good to be told that and certainly isn’t a bad sign at all, but I’d be wary just because they haven’t read essays, seen grades, etc.
Until you have an acceptance letter, it’s really all speculation. All of the schools my kiddo visited encouraged an application even though one was definitely a glaring mismatch. For this school my kid had a 1.5 hour plus interview and got a call from AO regarding an unfinished app-which my kid decided not to complete after the visit).
Results and experiences may vary but all schools aim to get as many applicants as possible so THEY have the best selection. It’s all good. The experience of applying is an excellent experience in itself.
Adding to other comments - got glowing feedback after each interview from almost all of them but ended up on a waitlist for some of them. It is exactly what a previous poster said - take it as one thing on the check list then that you don’t need to worry about. And agree with OP, it was an absolutely exhausting process. We ended up having twins applying and so double everything. I thought by January I would lose my sanity. But then also feel that the college process in a few years may feel less intimidating (may not be) having gone through this. Hang in there!
