Well guys, I just got REJECTED by Yale, and am a little low right now. I know that it isn't true, but I can't help but feel that my flat-out rejection means that I won't be picked up by any other schools that I would love to go to. At this time, I just want to hear of someone who got rejected to their early decision/action school (doesn't necessarily have to be super-prestigious), but got into tons of their other schools. It's pretty sad and pathetic of me, I know. I just think that by hearing it from someone else, I can bounce back and by tomorrow be ready for more. Thanks.

Deferred, Stanford. :)

I'm hearing about other schools later, but we can suffer together in the meantime.

I wouldn't exactly say that I'm suffering (I can't tell if you're being facetious), it's just that I'm concerned that there is something wrong with my portfolio (essay?) that was the reason why I was rejected, and that in turn will keep me out of other schools. Wow, that was quite a run-on sentence!

P.S.- How do I use those little smiley faces when I write? I would put a confused one on but I don't know how!

I'm not poking fun, I'm being serious. We do have to suffer while waiting another few months before finding out where we stand. Just because Yale rejected you doesn't mean it's your essay. They're just weird and tend to reject a lot of qualified people. :)

Smiley faces are... : ) ...but without the space.

don't worry! you're going to have a ton more choices to pick from later on. and you can think: too bad for yale! they missed out in having me!

I got deferred from an honors program at UT-Austin, but got into Rice.

Kid from my school last year was REJECTED by Cornell ED and accepted by Tufts.

Rejected by BC (regular), in at Dartmouth (regular);
Waitlisted by Dartmouth (regular), in at Harvard (early);
Rejected by Johns Hopkins (regular), in at Harvard (early)

Those are the only ones I can think of right now. But, seriously, if you and your GC were confident in your list before, you should still feel OK with it.

corranged: My counselor had little say in my final college list; to tell you the truth, I really don't agree with most of the college work she does (I don't want to say that I don't like her, that's not true). She has the habit of "taking the easy way out", choosing only schools that we both know that I can get into. I'm not saying that schools that aren't selective can't be great, but her preliminary list had zero schools in the U.S. News Top 20 list. I kept one school out of fifteen on my list. Check my chances thread out for my stats.
