Posse foundation

anyone heard of this? its a program specifically in new york that offers a full ride to certain colleges like middlebury and trinity. not so great schools but they have a good name for liberal arts.

^information.

students have to be nominated and each school can only nominate 10 seniors each year. i want to know if anyone has gone to college through this program or has went through some of the interview processes.

basic: offers full ride scholarship to a partnership school (listed on site)
leadership based program.

In the last two years, two kids from my school have gotten scholarships to Bucknell. There are a few rounds of elimination and some interview processes but I can't remember a lot of specifics. I don't know why my school (average public school) is doing so well with it, other than the fact the school apparently found out about it and then posted a million announcements and encouraged people to apply for it. I guess it's a good oppurtunity, fairly competitive, but it seems like students with good leadership qualities have decent shots. I would say if you are interested in the schools, then it's probably worth the time.

I would advise you to do a little more research as the posse foundation's partner schools are mostly Liberal Arts Colleges (where the emphasis is on undergraduate education), they are some of the best schools in the country where many parents would be over the moon if they child were to get an approximately $170,000 free education.

<a href="http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/libartco/tier1/t1libartco_brief.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/libartco/tier1/t1libartco_brief.php</a></p>

"not so great schools"

Middlebury, Bowdoin, Carleton, and Pomona are 4 of the highest ranked and most sought after colleges in the country, with acceptance rates below 25%.

My school (Washington and Lee) is considering partnering with the posse foundation as well. They are a program that takes students from disadvantaged inner-city backgrounds that have not necessarily done so well on standardized tests but show great potential and give them full scholarships to certain elite schools where they stick together and have special mentors, programs, and other help to succeed.
