Posse Foundation

At the end of this past school year, my counselor informed me that I had been nominated for the Posse Scholarship, and that I would be receiving more information next year. I visited the site and researched it a bit, but I would like to know if there's anyone here on CC that has had experience with it or knows any information about it.

I'd really appreciate any posts. Thanks!

i was nominated too and all i know is that they pay ur full tuition. the colleges that they are partnered with are not the most appealing but i do like pomona. which city are u from?

I'm from Chicago. You?

chicago!!!!!!!

Lol that's cool!

I was also nominated and I am from Long Island

smdfire, what 3 schools do you think you'll pick?

jay123,
I meant to say that I am from Long Island City (Queens) and I am not sure which colleges I am going to pick. Which ones are you mainly interested in?

Well, (as you can see from the other posts ^^) I'm in Chicago, so I'm looking at UIUC, UW-Madison and Pomona.

I really hate how we're only limited to a couple schools. And I also wish they had other schools, like the University of Chicago, Northwestern, or Stanford (basically my top choice schools lol).

Madison is a great school. Academically strong / a lot of fun.

No one is requiring you to go through the Posse process if you don't like the schools on their list. And, you need to remember that not all of the HS students invited to participate will actually make the final cut - it looks like 10 per college/university, but the website doesn't indicate how many begin the process. Likewise, I don't see anything on the website that would bind you to their choice of school if you get yourself into a different one on your own, so you might want to investigate that issue further.

On the other hand, if you do make it through the process you basically are guaranteed a full scholarship for all four years, and a built in support system that will get you through in four years. It sounds like a really good deal to me.
