anyone think that the October 6 SAT math section will have a curve? i heard a lot of ppl saying that it was really hard but i thought it was pretty easy except one stupid mistake i made.

well, i've only taken the sat twice and this time seemed much easier than 3/07

i wouldn't think there'd be a curve but who knows? i'm all for it :)

They NEVER curve the math (for 800's).

Of course, sections are all always curved, but math is always -20 or -30 points for the first few questions missed; not sure after that.

They rarely curve for math for an 800.

At least one person on this forum reported that s/he got 1 wrong for math and still earned an 800.

So, 5 wrong/5 omit on the Oct. SAT would be what? 650? Probably lower, right? 600? 550?

its still in the 600s...i'd say in the 650 neighborhood.

You'll know your actual scaled score soon enough. Meanwhile, you can read about how scores are equated from one form of the test to another

if this is of interest to you.

From what I have gathered...

-1=780
-2=760
-3=740
-5=720
-6=710
-7=700

-7 and still 700? That seems pretty generous to me...

It was extremely easy...I doubt they will curve it.

from my experience, the oct 07 math was MUCH easier than the jan 07 math. the jan 07 curve was -2=760 so i wouldn't be surprised to see the oct 07 curve be harsher.. definitely don't count on it being more lenient

I doubt it would be harsher since -20/question is very harsh already, but I do not expect it to be lenient at all.

the curve is fixed so we cant base it on easiness...

Why can't we base it on how easy it is? That's how curves work.

Can one omit be an 800?

What would one omit/one wrong be?

(repeating myself)

Read the FAQ:

That would be me.

easy for some...more difficult for others.

Curves are preset for the SAT.
