Possibility of acceptance?

Right now I go to a California community college. I have a cumulative gpa of 2.93 right now because I screwed up in the beginning. I'm assuming my gpa should rise to 3.0 after this semester. But I want to apply to uc davis, uc irvine, and ucsb for tag 2012. I believe all of them have requirements of 3.2 for tag next year. However, next semester I was planning on taking calculus (semester 2), chemistry, and history. Do you think I should lighten the load to make it easier to raise my gpa by the end of fall '11? Or do you think I even have any chances of getting in?

By the way, I already completed my general ed requirements to transfer (IGETC).

Small chance

Transfers are usually pretty tough, and the schools you have listed are competitive. I don’t mean to be discouraging, but I would suggest that you take those classes instead of lightening the load, and work hard to raise your GPA simultaneously. If your GPA goes up all of a sudden with easier classes colleges will see right through that.

Ah, you guys are too young. Can a transfer advocate or someone who also transferred answer my question, specifically who went through TAG to a UC?

In response to you guys, my alternative plan was to take a 16 unit load instead of the 13 unit load I stated above. I would take physical anthropology, statistics, speech, and history. I’m going to major in psychology and realized I don’t need such extensive math and science courses. TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) is an agreement between California community colleges and UC. If the student has a specific cumulative GPA, they are guaranteed admission. UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UCSB TAG requirements are having a cumulative GPA of 3.2.
