Hey guys, just got accepted to UCI as a transfer and I'm quite stoked that I got in. Hard work pays off, and the sky is the limit. Sounds cliche, but it's an amazing feeling when you get accepted into a UC.

However, I'm second guessing whether the major I chose will be beneficial towards law school, and overall interest. I originally chose Criminology, Law and Society and I thought (and I still think) it's a great major that interests me in terms of the classes they offer.

Though, the political science program (int relations) is something that I have a strong passion for. (I applied to 5 different schools under int relations, so it's something that I really want to do. )

Now the question remains, would moving from the Social Ecology Department of Crim, over to the Social Sciences Poli Sci be a possibility? I talked with some admissions department people, and they said that it would not be a hard move, because some pre-reqs will over lap. Also, they mentioned it's a common practice to change majors so I shouldn't worry.

They told me that during Summer Orientation, that will be the time to file a change of major (June 28th). Have I technically not declared my major? I really want to stay local in Irvine, so that's a reason why I would like to change my major here. I have plenty of other places, but I'd rather stay here with family, friends, and save $$.

fyi: I WILL be missing a couple pre-reqs (3-4), but nothing I can't make up really quickly at my Community college for cheaper.

edit: also, I've looked at the change of major guide, but can someone explain it from their personal experience of how it goes? I know of people that have changed their majors at college but I just want an honest opinon.

thanks.

cliffs: want to change major from crim to poli sci at uci. looked at information, what are the chances? anyone have experience?
