Possibility of getting admitted off the waiting list

I got wait listed for RPI for RD. I was wondering if I will have a chance getting admitted. I am an Asian female applying for the Lally School of Business. Also what should I do to convince admission that I am interested in attending?

Just send a note explaining again why RPI is your top choice and that you anxiously await being admitted.
You are qualified if on the waitlist, but note last year they had their largest freshman class ever, too many kids accepted their offer. Nobody got in off the waitlist last year, so carefully consider your other options.

@blevine All right. Thank you for the help. Also do you think visiting campus and talking with an admission officer will further convince the school my interest?

@aznbubbly Those things will definitely help, I would recommend sending a letter more than anything else.

Also, for all waitlisted students I will have to confirm what @blevine said. RPI had a record yield for the Class of 2020 meaning more students accepted their offers than ever before and no one was admitted off the waitlist. So many more students were likely rejected or waitlisted for the Class of 2021 as a result. It seems the financial awards are also much larger (they grow them every year) so the yield may very well be the same or greater for a smaller estimated class size - aka more kids than normal will be fighting for less waitlist spots.

For the class of 2019, the acceptance rate from the waitlist was 2%… I wouldn’t get your hopes up, but definitely try and hope for the best!
