Possibility of Getting into a Decent School

Hello! I'm a junior, at the moment and am having quite an awful year. I was just wondering what my chances are to getting into NYU or Cornell. Thanks!
GPA: 3.7 (hoping to have a 3.85 by the end of the year)

APUSH: C+ (hoping to have a final grade of a B)
College PreCalc: C+ (Hoping to have a final grade of a B)
Honors French: B (Hoping to have a final grade of a B+)
AP Lang: B+ (Hoping to have a final grade of an A)
Chemistry: B+ (Hoping to have a final grade of an A)

Freshman and Sophomore years were fantastic. I got pretty good grades throughout the year.
I am pretty dead set on NYU, at the moment. I probably will be applying early decision, so maybe that'll help my chances. Also, I'm taking the SAT's in May and am hoping for a 2100. If I don't receive that score in May, I will be retaking it to reach my goal.

Thank you again! :)

Honestly, having a bad junior year is one of the worst things that can possibly happen. Freshman and sophomore year better have been outstanding, and you better have on heck of a senior year. To get into Cornell, you need to have great EC’s and probably a 2300 with those grades (as well as a good excuse why your grades have fallen). NYU is more realistic, but you will still need a great senior year, a good excuse, good EC’s, and probably over a 2100. You are far from ruled out, though, it just that junior year is the exact wrong year to screw up. Just make sure you have a good essay, good recommendations, and a good interview

Cornell: big reach
NYU: high match

Thank you so much! And thanks for being realistic.
