Possibility of Getting Into Stanford?

Hey guys!

I would like to know if I would have a chance of getting into Stanford. I want to major in Computer Sciences and if possible also major in Linguistics.

I live in North Carolina, I'm 15 years old, I'm Hispanic.

Academics

Grade: High School Sophomore

GPA: 4.40 Weighted (this will probably be around 4.7/4.8 by the end of the year)

Classes I am taking now (Sophomore year):
1. Honors Geometry
2. Honors English 10
3. Honors Biology
4. Spanish I
5. Honors French IV
6. Honors Advanced Strings
7. Study of Jesus Christ in Scripture (I go to a private Catholic school, theology is required.)

Classes I will take Junior year:
1. Honors Pre-Calculus
2. AP English Language
3. Honors Chemistry
4. AP American History
5. AP French
6. Introduction to Game Programming in Java
7. Church History + Christian Morality (theology)

I plan studying French at UNC - Chapel Hill during the summer before my Senior year.

Courses I will take Senior year:
1. AP Calculus BC
2. AP English Literature and Composition
3. Honors Physics
4. AP U.S Government and Politics
5. Honors Advanced Strings
6. Honors Advanced Game Programming in Java
7. Social Justice: Dignity of the Human Person + Ecumenical and Interreligious Issues (theology)

By the time I graduate, I would have taken these AP classes:
1. AP Calculus BC (I'm planning to take Algebra II/Trig this summer so I can take Calc BC)
2. AP English Literature and Composition
3. AP English Language
4. AP French
5. AP United States Government and Politics
6. AP U.S History

SATs: Haven't taken them yet.

Extracurricular Activities:

String Ensemble

Global Crusaders (My school's recycling club)

Franciscan Youth International (We do service projects. ie. Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity etc.)

Forensics/Debate Club

Le Cercle Francais (French Club)

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America. I won 2nd Place in Public Speaking at a State competition. I did this at my old school before I transferred to my current school, not sure if this still counts)

My school's swim team and I also swim year-round.

I volunteer at UNC Hospitals during the summers

To graduate we have to do service projects during the year at school like working at a Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity etc.; I'm not sure if this counts as an extra curricular since we do it during a school day.

Sorry if this is too much information I just want to provide as much as I can.
Thanks!

We can’t tell yet. Stanford is a reach for everyone. You haven’t taken the SATs or SATIIs and are a sophomore still. If you get a 2250+ SAT, 3.85+ UW GPA, and a whole lot of good ECs and SATII scores, you have a fair shot at Stanford. Most everyone who applies there has thee GPA and SAT scores, it’s the ECs that really factor the few who get accepted.

If you have good SAT and SAT IIs, then yeah you will have a chance.

When are the SATIIs normally taken and If I’m trying to major in Computer Sciences and Linguists would these SATIIs be okay to take? Physics, French with Listening, Math II.

Yeah those SAT IIs seem pretty good based on what you want to focus on. Usually people take SAT IIs after completing the courses. For example, an AP Bio student would take the SAT Bio right after taking the AP Bio exam because the material is fresh in the brain.

Okay that makes sense, thanks a lot!

You are on the right track though. By the way, your EC’s are good, though they don’t demonstrate your love for computer science. Maybe form a club related to that topic or something junior year.

Hmm, well I’m a part of a club called the Smart Guys (horrible name I know) and we help the IT person with the website and the network for the school. It’s not really a big group and it just got started last year so it isn’t very organized yet, but that’s the only thing that my school offers as far as clubs for Computers/tech stuff. I guess this is something I should research more.
