Possibility of Getting Rescinded?

Business Major - Freshman
Overall Unweighted GPA: 3.3
SAT: 1270
SAT Math 2: 600
SAT Physics: 590
Asian, 1st Gen, and low income
No D/Fs in past 3 years. Only C’s are in Physics, AP Physics 1, and 1 semester of AP US history. Every other grade has been an A or a B.

Senior Year:
AP Calculus BC: F
AP Physics 2: B
Everything else: A.

I have 5 Years of math in A-G, and if I pass AP Calculus BC, it would’ve been my 6th. Every other A-G requirement has already been completed. I also have 5 years of science in A-G

I’m trying super hard to bring it up to a C, but the possibility of that happening is a toss-up. I’m pretty much not sleeping anymore. Hell, I’m writing this at 4:30 am.

I took Calculus BC because I already took regular calculus in the previous year and math is my favorite and best subject. Immediately bombed the tests. I was doing my homework on time, was going to tutoring. The class was going way too fast and I couldn’t keep up.

I tried to drop the class, but my counselor told me there wasn’t any room to put me in a different class. So I was stuck. Today, I went to Highlander Day to visit the campus and am crying that I’m probably not going to go to UCR.

Is there nothing I can do besides bring my grade up to a C, or is there a chance UCR would accept my first ever D/F?

What does your provisional admission contract state? Pass all Senior classes with a C or higher and maintain a weighted GPA of 3.0? No D’s or F’s? Even if you have met or exceeded a-g course requirements, any a-g courses Senior year need to be completed with at least a C.

If you went to Highlander day, why did you not seek out someone in admissions to discuss your options?

  1. Contact UCR undergrad admissions immediately and find out what you can do to keep your acceptance.
  2. UCR may wait until your final grade before deciding so find yourself a tutor, ask for extra help from your teacher, anything to get the grade up to a C.
  3. Offer to retake the class during the summer if you are unable to pass or see if they allow you to take the course at UCR as a matriculated student.
  4. Be prepared for being rescinded and figure out a backup.

Best of luck.
