Okay, so here’s the breakdown: I applied to 7 colleges, was auto-accepted at UT-Austin, waitlisted at UChicago and George Washington, and rejected from Princeton, Yale, Columbia and Georgetown (trying to stomach that feeling). I’m planning to major in International Relations/Affairs, but I don’t know how I’m gonna find much success graduating out of UT with an IR major. So, as of right now, I’m stuck between a few choices:
- Go to UT and study IR
- Go to UT and try my absolute best to switch into the McComb’s School of Business
- Go to UT, study IR for a year, and try to transfer to somewhere else with a more comprehensive IR program
- Go to UT, switch into McComb’s, and try to transfer to somewhere else with a more comprehensive program while also switching into the International Relations major.
That 4th choice has really got me in a bind. I want to try to keep myself insured in case I can’t get into, let’s say, Johns Hopkins or The University of Michigan. But I also know that if I switch under those circumstances, I’ll probably lose a lot of credits. So, having considered that, I really need your help. If anyone has any advice (including any reviews of UT’s IR program) I REALLY would appreciate it.
