possible BME acceptance rate for last year

According to this site:

There were 2000 applicants to BME last year, and say the accepted numbered 110, the acceptance rate would be 5.5% ! This includes those rejected to the school. Addmission Daniel said about one third of those accepted to the school were accepted to BME.

110 accepted? No chance. I remember reading that they accepted somewhere over 300 BME's. That is probably the number that enrolled. AdmissionsDaniel could give you better numbers.

"Cisu is in a specialized biomedical engineering program at Johns Hopkins, which accepts just 100 to 120 freshmen each year from among 2,000 freshmen applicants, said Amy Lunday, speaking for the college"

Normally, the BME incoming class is about ~110. This year's class was a bit larger (higher yield, I believe) at ~140. The number accepted is definitely higher than that, but I have no idea what it actually is - I don't think they release it.

As I have stated many times before both on the JHU Forums and College Confidential, specific statistics regarding BME acceptances are not released as they are departmental decisions and they vary greatly year-to-year.

I can say that the goal is to enroll 100 - 120 BME students a year. Last year we missed the target as we enrolled 136 students.

As far as the article, chalk it up to a journalist misquoting someone. It should read ENROLLS not ACCEPTS.
