I am looing for good CS programs in the Northeast part of the country. Here is a post from the chance me section with my info.

Schools I've looked at :NEU, BU, RPI, WPI, UMass Amherst, Cornell, Drexel. Thanks for any advice you can give me

Cost constraint, financial aid situation, and state of residency?

If you are in-state for MA, NY, or NJ, look into UMass - Amherst, Stony Brook, or Rutgers respectively (if you are an out-of-state full pay student, these may have lower list prices than the privates).

Im living in mass, I am an independent student, but I am not extremely worried about cost, and as I said in the post I looked at Amherst. Thanks anyway

Run the net price calculators on all of your choices to make sure that you can afford them without excessive debt. By “independent”, you do mean that you are considered independent of your parents for financial aid purposes (e.g. age 24, military veteran, married, etc. qualifications)?

Uh Its kinda hard to explain. Go to the link I posted in the first post and read the information there. But if you just want the sparknotes, both of my parents passed away. I have enough money saved up for college so Im not to worried. Any other school recommendations?

Ah, I see.

But do run the net price calculators so that you are not surprised in April. Out of state public universities are not particularly generous with need-based financial aid.

If you find that you need affordable safeties, consider some of the schools listed here (but most are in the south):

I have run the calculators Just out of curiosity, why do you keep bringing up state schools? Most (all but 1) of the colleges I listed in the first post were private schools.

Yes, but isn’t someone your legal guardian? Does that mean you can’t be considered “independent”? I don’t know, I’m just putting the question out there. Someone in here might know.

Like I said on your other thread, it depends on what you are looking for. CS is offered at many types of schools - universities, STEM schools, liberal arts colleges. If you were asking about CE that narrows the choices a lot.

Yes someone is currently my legal guardian, but wont be when I am in college. One criteria to be an independent student is anyone who is a ward of the state (has has a guardian appointed by the court). Guardianship is different then adoption I say saw your post in the other thread and appreciate the help. I love the stem style of campus, but my favorite school so far has been NEU. I am still up in the air between CE and CS.

OK. I’m sorry that you have been through so much!
Have you looked at RIT, similar to Drexel and NEU in many ways. Not as good in many ways as NEU, but might be a good safety. You should definitely focus on schools that have both CE and CS if you are undecided of course.

Thanks for the advice. I am definitely leaning more towards CS because I have a much stronger interest in the software side, then I do in hardware
