Possible Early Acceptance Boards

I posted this in the "Congratulations2012" area but I am so excited I have to do more typing!

S got the LOA today in the mail - on his birthday!!! He's over the moon! (Best present he's going to get, since the only other one is a wired foil blade :^)! }. I am so happy, proud, thrilled, all the superlatives.

Thanks for all your advice, opinions, cheers, etc. This fencersmother has really appreciated it.

Now, who wants to say hi to DS when he visits next month? (I'm buying that Walmart tie for him TODAY!)

Fencersmother, Congrats to you and your son!!!!! After alot of hard work you can now relax a little and enjoy this Senior year.! Having one just enter 2011 and now we hope another , time flys bye. So enjoy each other . Again CONGRATS!!!!!!!! and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him

Is Fencer still interested in USNA?

Yes, he's still interested in USNA, too, but the letter was just from the AFA. Actually, he just said that despite the fencing at the AFA, he will be hard-pressed to choose between AFA and USNA. Go figure...

Congratulations, Fencersmother (and fencer)!!! Glad to see another fencer is going to AFA (I assume he will accept). DS is thoroughly enjoying being on the team. Hope he enjoys his visit out there! Coaches are wonderful!

I got my LOA form the USAFA yesterday, Oct. 26, so they should be sending them out now, and congradulations Fencer, and fencermom, I am sure both you and your son are estatic, and I hope to see him in BCT come july

June 26, 2008, actually. Not that I'm excited for you all to come or anything. ;) Congratulations Maveric!!!

Alright even sooner!!! I can't wait, let the fun begin! Thank you Red

Congrats maveric. You might want to edit and correct the other thread posting your acceptance. You copied and pasted all those before you, which you did correctly, but you forgot to add your information. Congrats again.

Yea, I just put my info at the top by accident, I was to excited when I posted it and mistakenly posted the others' info under mine instead of above. . . whoopse

lol no worries, its a great achievement. Congrats all again.

Starting a countdown for 2012 already. :) It is fun seeing basics after 4 dig year! :)

so last week i find out i didnt get an LOA because my eyes werent PQ?

didnt know you had to be PQ to get an LOA... but thats the reason my congressman's Academy assistant gave me, and he's got me goin in to get my eyes rechecked.. hmm

What's PQ? (Sorry, I'm still not up on my acronyms, etc.)

pilot qualified = PQ. However, LOA's are granted even if medical is not complete, so that's wierd (correct me if I'm wrong anyone). I thought an LOA said the appointment was conditional upon completion of medical and attaining a nomination.

thats what i thought.. but the congressman's assistant is pretty up on his stuff, and he even called the asst. director of admissions, and that's the reason he gave to him. so, i was upset b/c i've never heard that

There is a preference for PQ, but I believe LOA's have been granted without PQ status. They could easily have changed the rules for this year though. Do not be discouraged. You will see offers of Admission from now until March. Then in March a blizzard of of offers will roll out. The Waiting truly is the hardest part.

This year, DODMERB isn't distinguishing whether or not a candidiate is PPQ (Potential Pilot Qualified). The results are being reported as either Qualified or Disqualified, the same as for USNA and USMA.

yea, i was told to def. expect one by march, but my congressman's assistant is extremely hard-set on getting an LOA. i just wanna get in. reason why he's like that is b/c its been a LONG time since anyone from my district has gotten an LOA and he says i'm the best chance they had. so i guess i just wont stress, all i know is i'll be out there on nov 9 !!!

You can call DODMERB to find out if your are PPQ, though it's really only the physical that takes place during the third year at the Academy that matters.
