If any engineering students have picked out there potential schedule or a current engineering student could post their freshman years 1st quarter schedule I would really appreciate it. It doesn't matter what type of engineering I am just trying to get an idea of what most people do.

I think I will be taking Math 2a and chem 1a and probably either EngrMAE 10 or EECS 10 depending on which type of engineering I decide on. If there are any professors I should definitely take, then let me know.

Biomedical Engineering major here!
heres my potential schedule

Math 2A
Chem 1A
Phys 2
BME 1

Now im just checking out which teachers are good. And i doubt its that hard to switch, switching to buisness yes thats hard, but engineering no i don’t think so. Anyways good luck!

For a freshman with your background, I suggest starting with a light technical load so you can warm up (your first quarter is always the hardest).

Try this:
Math
Physics
GE

If you are at all considering chemical/bio engineering, I suggest you take math, physics, and chemistry (that’s it) since you have to go all the way in chemistry. If you are EECS, then take EECS 10 as the third.

Do not go beyond 3 courses and enjoy your first quarter.

If I am undecided and trying to get into engineering does taking math 1B put me at a disadvantage? and are there prereqs to math 1b or can you take it right off the bat.

Math 1B is the high school equivalent of Pre-Calc. It won’t put you at a huge disadvantage, just an extra quarter of work. If you aren’t good at Calc then I would recommend taking math 1B first. I was pretty good in Calc but ended up getting a B my first quarter because my professor was pretty hard to understand and gave us tough problems. But if your Calc is solid then just take 2A with a good professor. (check [Rate My Professors | Find and rate your professor, campus and more - RateMyProfessors.com](http://www.ratemyprofessor.com) to make sure they’re decent)

Like Boonit, I’m also undecided but want to get into Engineering. I passed my Calculus AB test with a 3, so I guess I can skip all the way to Math2D. How can I transfer into the engineering dept? Am I at an advantage, with having no physics knowledge, good Calc knowledge, and basic chemistry knowledge?

My first year experience was alright. The best days of engineering come in the 3rd and 4th years. During your first year concentrate on school and making initial friends within a smaller network (aka your dorm and NOT your high school friends). Towards the end of your first year, you can start with clubs and such but don’t get too involved just yet. When you start your second year you should go all out by diving deep into a frat/sor or club. By then you should have the whole college thing down. Your college network will stay with you forever!

To those looking to transfer in:

All you really need to do is get your requirements in with a good (3.0+) GPA. With that, you should be guaranteed entrance into the college of engineering. If they stop you because you couldn’t fulfill one req, just ***** at them to take you in. They are there to serve you, not stop you.

So when you say get a 3.0+ GPA, are you referring to your 1st year as a freshman? Dang, it’s gonna take a whole year for me to be considered an engineering major? Damn, but oh well. No engineering classes for my freshman year. Also I might bother you a lot with questions since you’re going down the same path I want to go down to lol.

@ jas0n thank for the advice! I’m starting with a blank slate so its important for me to not only do well academically but also socially (clubs, research, internships etc). Ima milk this school for what its worth. High school was depressing so i hope my misery in high school would motivate me to do more in college.

JGod93: I’m sure you can change major after your first or second quarter – it just depends how well you can persuade the counselors (however that may be).

wackedwithbamboo: My mentality was exactly the same as yours coming in, and, let me tell ya, I really milked the school. I can only say great things after doing so :]. High school doesn’t even come up in my mind these days. The best memories are from undergrad.

Thanks for all the posts guys, I am thinking will probably be going into either chemical, aerospace or envrionmental engineering. If anyone is familiar with those programs and can tell me a little bit about what their courseload is liek that would be awesome.

I think I will probably take math 1b in the fall but since I have a precalc book at home I might just try to teach myself and go right into math 2a.

Hey Faiz, I want to major in CSE (and minor in an art). I tried getting into EECS for fall quarter but I was taken out of it probably because I’m currently a bio major -.- So I picked CSE 21 instead… Am I doing it right? lol >.< I’m so scared and confused.

When I posted my schedule, I should’ve said to take it with a grain of salt. There is not reason that you need to do the same exact schedule as another major like you.

As for your class predicament, I’d say talk with whoever your current counselor is. I’m not 100% sure what the schedule for a CSE major is supposed to be because it’s different than just a regular Computer Engineer.

And like I said before, don’t look at my schedules and think that you have to match them exactly (and for the record, I took 4 classes Spring quarter: EECS 20, Math 3D, Pysch 7A, and Physics 7D).

And regarding your last question, Anthro and Psych are both GEs but only Anthro fulfilled more than one.
