Hi, I am looking at Engineering, and I am leaning towards Computer/Electrical. However, I am also interested in studying CS.
My Stats:
GPA: 4.6/4.0 (Weighted, school doesnt do unweighted)
ACT: 29 (E: 29, M: 31, R: 27, S: 28)
30 (E: 29, M: 30, R: 32, S: 28)
31 (E: 35, M: 27, R: 32, S: 28, W: 36)
Top 10%
URM
Under $30K income
First-Gen
Competitive School
Very Strong Extracurricular Activities that demonstrate passion, leadership, and diversity
Very Strong Recommendations, one from language teacher that shows my personality, and another one from Science teacher that shows my ability to work well in groups and ask for help.
So what should I be looking at? I live in NY, but I know that most private schools would give me decent aid if I managed to get into one.
Thank you
Good engineering schools (West-coast) I know of are WashU Seattle, Cal Poly, higher-tier UCs, USC, and Stanford. Not sure about East-coast, so sorry about that (I live in Cal). UNY, if you want to stay close to home, could be a good fit for you as well. Your transcript is awesome, but you could raise your S/M ACT scores if you want to be an engineer as engineering scores are typically higher than average scores for universities.

Work especially hard on bringing up the math score if you want a chance at the very best engineering schools, who tend to be less holistic than LACs. Even as a URM/First time your chances are low with an ACT of 31 and a math subscore of 29, or an ACT of 29 with math subscore of 31.
