Is it at all possible for me to keep all A's? I plan to join the honors program, a fraternity (although I'll drop it if my grades go down too much), swim club, maybe some science related club or Student government. Any advice from previous/current students would be much appreciated

Possible? Yes. Likely? Definitely not. Especially with all those extracurriculars, though I’m sure you’ll realize that soon. Most people are involved with maybe one or two clubs on campus.

Honestly, people who lock themselves in their room and study all day still can’t pull off 4.0 (I’m only slightly exaggerating). I have seen extreme rarities who can have a life and pull off amazing grades as a science (south campus) major. Still not a 4.0 though. But if you’re one of those types, you should be the one teaching me!

Nothing’s impossible, but that looks highly unlikely. Especially if you’re going to rush and do all that stuff. My advice is stick to up to three extracurriculars for now. I know it sounds weird to be overcautious, but seriously. Take it easy your first and maybe second quarter and then dive into all you want to do when you’re comfortable with your GPA.

And this doesn’t mean don’t do anything extra your first quarter, which was what I did. I ended up having so much extra time I didn’t know what to do with it, so I ended up doing no work at all. It’s all about balance.

I’m not sure if Honors program is worth it. I literally went through my entire freshman year without hearing about it from my friends at all. Not sure if that’s a good thing, but it doesn’t sound as prominent as it should…

Awesome thanks for the advice

The average GPA for Biochemistry major at UCLA is 3.1

^encouragement at it’s best

LOL really
